A Look at the 2014-2016 In Colors

The 2014-2016 In Color Collections. Sigh. I don’t like to create panic among my customers and readers. So, I never talk about retiring products this early in the catalog year. However, other Stampin’ Up! demonstrators have already started the panic and my customers are coming to me with questions. So, let’s talk about the 2014-2016 In Colors.

In Colors - http://stampedimpression.comEvery year, Stampin’ Up! introduces 5 colors – they call them In Colors – that will be available for only 2 years. The set that is going to retire includes these (in alphabetical order):

  • Blackberry Bliss
  • Hello Honey
  • Lost Lagoon
  • Mossy Meadow
  • Tangelo Twist.

My favorites are Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon and Mossy Meadow – all tied for first place – then Hello Honey, and, finally, Tangelo Twist at the end. (Remember, I’m not an Orange person.)

Probably sometime in mid-April, Stampin’ Up! will announce which products will retire at the end of the catalog year, May 31. By definition, the 2014-2016 In Colors will retire. That means any card stock, ink, pen, paper or embellishment containing those colors will retire.

Disclaimer: If there is a color renovation – where they completely overhaul the colors offered – then some of these may stick around. However, I have no information on whether or not a color renovation is planned for this year.

So, it’s kind of a game of chance. I’m always sad to see the In Colors retire. However, I’m always happy to see the arrival of new In Colors! It’s like changing clothes styles!

In any case, if you really love any of thee colors, start thinking about stocking up soon. Once the retirement list is announced, people start of buy up limited-quantity items. And that includes the In Colors. Once those products are sold out, they will not be replenished.

I decided to examine these In Colors more closely, by creating 5 cards, each focusing on one of the colors.

Today, let’s look at a card made primarily with Blackberry Bliss.

Blackberry Bliss - http://stampedimpression.comIsn’t this fun? Colors are Blackberry Bliss and Pear Pizzazz. The stamp set is Summer Silhouettes, introduced in 2012. Hmmm. (Do you think it will retire at the end of May?) I wanted the flower centers to be visible, so I stamped off the flower petals, making them lighter than the centers. It’s a technique I use often!

Hey! There’s a Rhinestone Basic Jewel on the bottom of the exclamation point! An unexpected delight!!

Another unexpected delight is the sentiment. It is part of the Party Pants stamp set, one of the products you can earn for free during Sale-A-Bration!

Plus a bonus! This is a birthday card. You can use it for #imbringingbirthdaysback.

I’ve used Blackberry Bliss often, but only a few times on this blog. It’s almost a “neutral” color that works well with any pale hue. I’ve used it for fall, winter, spring and summer designs. Here is my absolute favorite card that I made using Blackberry Bliss. You can read more about how I made it here.

Easy-to-Make Fall Card http://stampedimpression.comThat’s it for today. Tomorrow, I’ll share a project made with Hello Honey!

  1. Okay, so I panicked a little. Sorry. But I had just been in my craft room and saw that I was down to 3 sheets (3 sheets!!!) of Blackberry Bliss! I didn’t even remember that it was one of the “In” colors!! And then I REALLY panicked! Life without Blackberry Bliss?! Noooooooooooo!!! I was nearly hyperventilating. And the inventory on Lost Lagoon wasn’t that bad but why take chances?? So I placed my order for both colors (okay, plus a few more things, cuz you know how I am) and now I feel so much better. Whew! I know it wasn’t exactly a close call but now I can make as many cards as I like
with Blackberry Bliss (hmmm, maybe featuring that fabulous Summer Silhouettes set that I have loved since 2012 — it’s just so wonderful!!!) and there’s a better than likely chance that my card will look a whole lot like the one on this page! Remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!! 😉

    1. Oh, my! Don’t panic. There’s plenty of time to order the card stock. In fact, I saw that your order has shipped in its entirety! You are in good shape.

Wait until you see the cards made from the other In Colors. You may need to order more card stock. And even a few stamp sets!

      Thanks for the compliments!
