Last night was my Monthly Card Class. That's a regularly scheduled event that I host in my home. Attendees typically make 6 cards – 2 in each of 3 designs. I try to vary the cards designs, techniques and colors. This card was not part of the monthly class. It's the card that I almost made!
I started this card design with the color combination: Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla. I sponged the sentiment on the oval card stock with a little River Rock. Because there are so many things to look at in the stamped images, I kept the rest of the design simple. Plus, I'm trying to focus a little on cards that mail easily. So, although I used a couple of Stampin' Dimensionals and some tiny Pearl Basic Jewels, I stayed away from bulky embellishments. For example, I used Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine near the bottom of the card, not thick ribbon.
Stamp sets are French Foliage and Kindness Matters. Both sets are among my favorites!
I really love this card design. However, I made it over 2 months ago. It's been standing on my desk, next to my computer monitor all this time. While I was preparing materials for Card Class, I started to feel a little tired of it. Yesterday morning, at around 8 am, I designed a different card for Card Class. I started with the same colors and even used the same stamp set. But since the balance of colors was different, the Marina Mist was now too dark. I swapped it for Baja Breeze.
It's an interesting journey that I take when designing cards!
Now that Card Class has passed, I'm no longer tired of this design. However, I don't want to keep it around until mid-April. So, I decided to show this now with all of you. The card that I almost made!
