I really like the fall. And the spring. There is something so COMFORTABLE about the time between hot summer and cold winter. And I’m not really a fan of the warm fall colors (like orange and brown), but I do like to work with them! Especially when I mix them with other colors.
Since I don’t work with orange and brown too often, I feel a lot of pressure to do a really good job with these shades. I know. I’m a complex woman!
Here’s an autumn thank you card I made (in bulk). It’s a Thank You card, made with autumn leaves.
The 4-1-1
- All lines are thin – Look at the thickness of the Pretty Peacock and Pumpkin Pie mats, or the stamped lines of the leaves, or the stamped lines of the text. All the lines are thin. It brings a cohesiveness to the overall design. Maybe the letters in SO GRATEFUL aren’t really thin, but they are made up of only thin lines! To me, it makes it kind of delicate. I like that!
- Easy stamping – The leaves make up most of the stamping. First of all, they are in a random pattern, overlapping a little. So, there is no way you can make a “mistake” on the stamping. Then, each time I inked up a stamp, I put it to the cardstock 2 or 3 times. That really cuts down on the time to stamp the card! I like that, too!
- Clear message – The focal point is the message: SO GRATEFUL. That comes through because it is large enough and contrasts enough, to be the focal element of the card. The large Pretty Peacock text draws your eye to the message. I like that part, too!
Autumn Colors
Remember that earlier, I said that I’m not so fond of oranges and browns. So, when I use these colors, I’ll work with a shade of blue, as well. Blue is my most favorite color of all!
Here is another card, that I made last year. It uses the same stamp set (Gather Together), but slightly different colors. What do you think? I believe that this is one of my better designs!
One of the fun facts about this cards… the colors of the leaves are completely fanciful!
Not only for Autumn Leaves
Many of us make cards with lots of leaves only in the fall. But leaves can be used any time of the year, except winter! Just change up the colors and you’re good!
That is just one more reason that I’m grateful with autumn colors! Or leaves! Lol.
How about you? What are your favorite colors to work with? Leave a comment and let us know!
