How to Make a Card for a Festive Day

Sometimes, it’s good to have a card that’s for a special occasion, but not yet specific. Perhaps a special someone passed a test. Or completed a big project. Or achieved some distinction in a volunteer position. Do you ever wonder how to make a card for a festive day?

A card for a festive dayI started with the Starburst Sayings stamp set from the Occasions catalog. Bundling this with the Starburst Framelits dies is perfect – and saves you 15% when you purchase both together!

Lots of layers give the impression that this card took a long time to make. That translates into, “You are special to me!”

Adding even more “specialness” are the variety of textures: the rhinestone in the banner, the pearl in the lowest starburst, and the embossed hearts in another banner.

At first glance, this can be used for a birthday card. But the sentiment, Oh Happy Day, really applies to any special occasion. Thus, this card is a good one to make ahead of time and keep on hand!

My Top Tips regarding this card for a festive day:

  1. The combination of Pumpkin Pie, Baked Brown Sugar and Coastal Cabana allow this card to be gender neutral.
  2. Introducing the banners adds interest. It would have been a little boring if I used only starburst shapes.
  3. More interest is created by having the mats of differing widths. In fact, the Baked Brown Sugar mat is wider on the sides than at the top and bottom. Who says are mats must be alike?

This is another one of my designs that “evolved” from something totally different. However, it clearly shows how to create a generic card for a festive day!

  1. OK – so I love these colors too. Guess I just love color and SU has all the good ones! Love this- makes me feel happy to look at it!

    1. Stampin’ Up! certainly offers a full range of choices. I’ve always found you enjoy working with different combinations of colors. I think that’s what adds to the fun of making your own cards!
