Tonight is the start of the Festival of Lights – Hanukkah! While just a minor festival, it’s celebrated with lots of fun in many American homes. (Translate “fun” to mean “presents, games and lots of food”.) My children are grown and I don’t have grandchildren, so it’s become “minor” again for me. Nonetheless, it’s always fun to celebrate. And celebrating means a card. Here is one I designed using My Digital Studio (MDS).
TIP: If you like lots more layers, you can always print it out on Whisper White card stock and then mat it on several layers of card stock!
I really struggled with the candles. Do you know where I found them? They were created from the Birthday Candles stamp brush set, a digital download! I simply cropped it to get the image down to 8 candles. Then I used the Coloring Tool to “ink” the candles and flames. The Shamash, or the larger candle to the left, was created with a similar set of steps. Of course I added a Drop Shadow to my stamped images. That’s my favorite thing to do in MDS. It’s not possible in the physical world!
I thought of creating 9 dancing candles, where they are all placed at different angles. But I thought that would be “too much”. What do you think? Leave a comment and let me know!
For those of you “in the know” I also included the Hebrew greeting. It’s very subtle. Can you find it?!?!?
For those of you who celebrate Hanukkah, I hope it’s a holiday of fun, family and LOTS of good food! (Salmon, Caesar salad and potato latkes at my house tonight!!) If you don’t celebrate Hanukkah, I wish for you a day of fun, family and lots of good food! Happy Hanukkah!
