Christmas Card Day

Today is Christmas Card Day. It honors Sir Henry Cole (1818 – 1874) of England.  He created the first commercial Christmas Card in 1843. We're not sure of the exact date, but everyone celebrates it today. I love any reason to celebrate!

Well, my card is not a commercial card – it's hand made, of course!

Again, since I still have a bandaged hand, I kept it simple. I stamped the sentiment from the Peaceful Season (Level 2 Hostess) stamp set in VersaMark, and heat embossed it with Gold Stampin' Embossing Powder. I randomly stamped holly from the same set in Always Artichoke. My card stock is Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke, Brushed Gold and Basic Black – the gold card stock is attached using Stampin' Dimensionals. And the 1-1/4 Black Striped Grosgrain Ribbon is tied in the center and attached using 3 Mini Glue Dots. It's very elegant in person! And even with these stitches in my hand, it took only minutes to complete.

Better than a commercial card! So, today, take a few minutes and make a simple Christmas card.

Or Hanukkah card – it's the last day!

Until next time,
Happy Stamping,

Gorgeous!!! I love that ribbon — I might actually use some of mine some day, rather than hoarding it (maniacal laughter and rubbing of hands). Doesn’t look like you’re hand-icapped with your bandages at all!
