Designer Series Paper – Cut 2 Ways
With this month’s sale of Designer Series Paper, I’ve been exploring different ways to use it. If you missed it, you can check out another post and card design here. Today, I’m examining one card, made 2 different ways. The only difference is that the Designer Series Paper is cut 2 ways!
Here’s the first card.
On this card, and the one that follows, I used the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper. It’s one of the papers on sale this month!
The colors I chose included Gray Granite and Petal Pink. They were taken directly from the colors used on the paper. I added Blackberry Bliss for contrast. It makes the other colors POP. But that’s where the similarity between the 2 cards ends.
Paper Cut Straight Up-and-Down
On this card, I created vertical, rectangular layers, from the card base to the layer of Designer Series Paper.
I added happy birthday to you, from the Best Year stamp set, stamped in the Whisper White square. I mounted it on a Blackberry Bliss Square, then on a Petal Pink strip. The Metallic Pearl adds a little fun. Some – meaning I – would say, it adds a little elegance. I love elegance, don’t you?
This card is absolutely beautiful. I’ll be mailing it later this week.
But check out this other design…
Paper Cut Straight at an Angle
This time, I cut the Designer Series Paper just as wide as the Blackberry Bliss cardstock. However, I cut the top at an angle and glued the paper on the Blackberry Bliss. The same strip of Petal Pink covers over the seam, just to make it look a little finished. I stamped the same happy birthday to you sentiment, but die-cut it in a different shape. To be truthful, the circles called out to me. I had to use them!
By the way, I glued the Petal Pink strip on the DSP-cardstock layer, so that it hung over the 2 sides. Then I trimmed it back with my Paper Snips. I just eye-balled it. Nothing fancy or technical!
The Comparison
So, both cards are pretty easy to complete. I just wanted to show you a couple of options.
Which do you prefer?
