Sometimes I try to stick to one stamp set when posting card designs. I never want to discourage anyone by implying that you need many stamp sets to design a great card. Today’s project started with one stamp set and 2 colors. It quickly evolved to a card design with Mixed Bunch and Mixed Styles.
I started with the Mixed Bunch stamp set. Originally, this card was going to be one of those cards where the left side is the negative of the right side. Obviously, I strayed from that plan!
Colors used are Marina Mist, Basic Black and Whisper White. As much as I love blue, the card was a little boring. So, I introduced some Pear Pizzazz – a color that I never thought I would use with Marina Mist! I stamped some leaves from Simply Sketched on the white background. (Simply Sketched is a Hostess stamp set that you can purchase when your host a workshop or submit a personal order for $150. It’s quickly become one of those often-used sets of mine!) Finally, I sponged a little Pear Pizzazz around the sentiment, which was stamped from Six-Sided Sampler.
You might be wondering about the mixed styles. I’m talking about the stamped images. The 3 focal flowers have clean, bold lines. Yet the background has wispy, almost watercolor-like thin lines. These are two images that I don’t expect I’d put together on many cards. Yet they work well here.
By the way, when planning the card, I had two Marina Mist flowers. So I inserted the second one on the inside of the card. Surprise!
I bet you didn’t see that one coming – LOL!
I hope you enjoy today’s project. Perhaps it will inspire you to create a card design with Mixed Bunch and mixed styles!
