3 Things I Love about Being a Demo

I've been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator for 6 years. Talk about time flying by!

For much of that time, I've been a "hobby demonstrator". That means, I became a demonstrator only to enjoy the shopping discount. There is nothing wrong with that, but now, I'm running my own business. It can be hard work, but I thoroughly enjoy it. Here are my top 3 reasons I love being a demo:

  1. I run my own business, as I see fit – I love to be my own boss!
  2. My work hours are flexible – I set my office hours to fit into my life and commitments, not the other way around.
  3. I can earn a decent living – it's up to me how I want to accomplish this.

Plus, there is a huge social aspect – Both in my customer base and in the business hierarchy. This weekend, I'm attending my upline's meeting. I enjoy the networking with other demos. And I'm participating in a swap. That means, I bring the design and materials for 10 cards. And I share them with 10 other demos, who are doing the same thing. I arrive with 1 card design and leave with 11. What a great investment!

Here is my swap card. Click on the image to see a larger version.

I use Circle Circus – my favorite go-to set – and Swirls & Curls Verses – a hostess set from the Summer Mini. Of course, I used the Big Shot and the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Sponging and Stampin' Dimensionals are a must! But look at the circle at the top right.

I stamped and punched it out. Then I applied a Rhinestone Basic Jewel. Elegant and fun!

My colors are the new Pool Party and Island Indigo. Notice how I stamped more circles on the inside of the card. (Oops, a messy stamp. Sorry!)

I had a ton of fun working on this card. I get to share it with other demos. Plus, I'll receive other card designs in return. It's a win-win.

If you, or someone you know, is looking to run her/his own business, contact me. Let's talk about it!

Until next time,
Happy Stamping!
Sandi

  1. The new In Colors are simply a lot of fun. Look for them in my classes and blog posts!

As for Circle Circus … gotta love it. Of course, the Delicate Doilies is another good one.

As they say – So many stamp sets, so little time!

Love this color combination! I guess I know another couple of items that will have to go on my “next” list!! I am also learning to love “Circle Circus”! Yay! Such a versatile set! Classy and really good for those always challenging masculine cards.
