I recently discovered that you can mix and match Framelits. I’m a conservative person. I like my design elements to be symmetrical and straight up-and-down. That means I like to use my Framelits collections to cut matching card stock, so that the larger shapes are matching mats for the smaller ones. All edges are parallel.
Now, look at what I did on this card. I started by stamping the focal image on Whisper White card stock and ran it through the Big Shot with one of the smaller Ovals Collection Framelits. I then cut a larger oval in Pear Pizzazz card stock. But I cut the Perfect Plum mat using one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits. That is much more interesting than just 3 ovals on the card front!
The stamped image is from For the Birds, a great general occasion stamp set. Did you notice the soft stamping on the background of the card front? That was done with one of the stamps from Summer Silhouettes. Who would ever have expected to see part of a flower making up the background pattern?
Just for fun, ensuring that I was NOT symmetrical, I added a Silver Mini Brad near the top of the plum card stock, white I attached a Vintage Faceted Designer Button, with Linen Thread tied through it, at the bottom.
However, looking over my card design, I still believe that the most interesting feature is that I could mix and match Framelits! What do you think? Leave a comment below and let us know!
Look at you all coming out of your comfort zone again — genius!!!
If I don’t move outside my comfort zone from time to time, things get just a little boring. Hmmm. Life lesson here 🙂
