Today I’m showing a big birthday celebration with Big News! Truly a special event!! (Be sure to click on any photo to see a larger view of it.)
I started with Big News, one of the biggest, most fun set of sentiments in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. Every set of words is large and fun – I’ve used most of them during the year.
As I seem to be stuck in my green-blue phase, I continued my card design with Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, and Pool Party. It’s feeling a little predictable, I know. But I love these colors. And they’re getting me through this wild winter!
The design is quite simple. There’s not a lot of stamping. All of this is intentional, so that the bold birthday sentiment stands out. However, the monochromatic color scheme wouldn’t let that happen.
So I introduced Daffodil Delight and some sparkle 😀
Each star was punched using the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. I attached each with a Glue Dot, just to be sure that they stayed attached, once delivered by the U.S. Postal Service.
But the matted sentiment was attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals. By the way, I used only 4 – one in each corner. I know people like to add one in the middle, but it rarely does much good.
The sparkle comes from good ol’ 2-Way Glue and Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter. It’s still my favorite, even though I use other newer products, too!
Did you notice the yellow flame on the stamped candle? I colored it with with medium color of the Daffodil Delight Assortment Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. (Phew! That’s quite a mouthful, isn’t it?) I colored with it. I didn’t blend with it. The ink goes on the card stock so well. And it leaves no streak marks. Just be sure to let the stamped ink dry before you begin coloring with the Blendabilities.
One more thing… You can earn the Blendabilities for free during Sale-A-Bration! Be sure to use the special product number listed in the Sale-A-Bration brochure when you order them.
That’s it for today. It’s a big birthday celebration with Big News! Try it for yourself!
I think I need to add some more items to my wish list!!!
I can help with that!
😉
You lucky girl, Karen — what a great card! Sandi, I think you must be the reason why I keep using this color combination over and over again! It just really works.
Question: How did you make the circle and fancy mat for the focal point? That really works well, too!
Thank you, Kathryn!
I used my Big Shot and Framelits Dies to cut the card stock for the sentiment. I stamped the greeting, then cut it out with the smallest of the Circles Collection that fit the text. Then I mounted it on card stock cut out with the Deco Labels Collection. It’s a really great combination to use!
Thanks for sending me this gorgeous card! Love having it in person.
That was so funny. I made the card a while back, saving it for your birthday. Then I wrote and scheduled the blog post, so that it would be published AFTER I mailed the card to you. But I forgot to mail it. I really wanted you to receive it before it was published. Sigh.
So fun- love the colors!
Thank you! I guess the blue-green obsession is all right 🙂
