Working on a Diagonal Line

This weekend, I started working with my new Bordering Blooms stamp set. My typical approach would be to use these ribbons of flowers across the bottom or along one side of my card front. However, I decided to go outside my comfort zone and work on a diagonal line. Here is the first card design that I felt I could share.

Blooms on a diagonal lineThis photopolymer stamp set is so easy to use, all for the usual reasons:

  • They are totally clear, so that you can place the images perfectly on your project
  • They stick to the clear acrylic blocks, so that you never worry about them coming off (especially when they are full o fink).
  • They are pliable, so you can bend them and create many interesting designs.

This card was real quick, but but it has some interesting design features I’l like to share:

The 4-1-1

  • The stamps I used fit perfectly together. So, I stamped the outer flowers in a straight line. Then I stamped the inner flowers, So easy and clean!
  • The sentiment was stamped, then cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits die. But it was a little bland on the card front, even with the sponging. So, I punched a 2-1/2″ circle with that punch, cut it in half, and then attached each behind the curves on the sentiment. Perfect.
  • The main colors are Soft Sky and Garden Green – pretty conservative. But I used a very little bit of Strawberry Slush for POP! Do you think it worked?

If you look at the lower right corner, you can peek into the card. I repeated the flower line. So easy and it completes the card design.

Of course, this is a simple conservative design – when I move outside my comfort zone, I like to move slowly. How do you approach this type of experimentation? Leave a comment and let me know!

But in the meantime, I intend to continue to work on a a diagonal line!
