Many of you know that I design and make cards and invitations for all occasions. Christmas time is especially busy. My biggest order of the year was for a business – 700 hand stamped Christmas cards! (Yup, count ’em. 700.) The question I’ve been asked the most often is, “What do 700 cards look like in your house?” So, let’s take a look.
Here is my craft table, once all the card stock was cut, printed and stamped. I put a stamp set on the right so that you can get an idea of the size of the 4 piles. (There is one pile for each layer on this card.) The stamp box is 7-1/4″ inches high.
What does it take to make 700 cards? Well, after the design and proof copy are complete:
- 22 packages of Whisper card stock
- 15 packages of Always Artichoke card stock
- 10 packages of Basic Black card stock
- 63 refills of SNAIL Adhesive
- 1.5 bottles of ink refills
- 1 green garbage bag, full
- LOTS of time =)
Of course, I won’t show you the chaos of my craft room while the work was in progress. (Actually, I had planned to do that, but I got busy and forgot to take photos!!!) However, here is how 700 Christmas cards look when they are ready to go to the post office.
Again, I used the stamp box (7-1/4″ high), on the right, to give you an idea of the height of the piles!
How long did it take me? I’m not sure. Every year, I plan to track my time. But I always stop somewhere in the middle!
Was it a lot of work? Yes. Was it a lot of fun? Absolutely!
Now, that I finished this project, I can get busy on my own holiday cards. Fortunately, I started those several weeks ago. So I have only a little stamping, cutting and gluing to do. Yikes! I’d better get busy!
and the Law Offices of Russell E. Baldwin, Chartered are very pleased!
