Today's project is a Watercolor Winter Elegant Card.
The poinsettia is stamped with the Watercolor Winter stamp set from the Holiday Mini. It is clearly one of the most elegant stamp sets I have ever used. So, I naturally turned to an elegant color combination: Basic Black, Brushed Gold and Very Vanilla. The sentiment is from More Merry Messages in the annual catalog. I just discovered this stamp set during a recent "shopping browse!" Love the fonts used in this set. I don't know how I missed it earlier.
Lucky for my Card Class participants. They'll have access to this stamp set at tomorrow's monthly card class! (I switched the usual night, because of the time crunch created by the holidays.)
Because the stamped image is so details and the use of gold is so special, I could keep the card design very simple. Well, except for cutting out the flower. However, if I were to make this card again – and I probably will – I think I'd run the center piece of Basic Black card stock through the Big Shot with an embossing folder, just to give it a little extra interest.
What do you think? How would you step this design up a notch. Leave a comment below and let me know.
In the meanwhile, I think I'll make another Watercolor Winter Elegant Card!
I think every year I make one card in this color combination. I just love it! (And you really don’t need to cut out the poinsettia….)
Sooooo elegant!!! Yup, can’t go wrong with black and gold and vanilla. You even did the fussy-cutting on the poinsettia! I’m loving this set, too. Mostly playing with the pine bough and pinecone which are just adorable but now I’m eyeing that poinsettia and thinking hard!!
