Twin Birthday Card Design

There are all kinds of challenges to raising twins. I like to keep things equal, but not identical. This can be easier to state, rather than achieve. Especially when it comes to designing birthday cards. But I do my best. Here are this year’s twin birthday cards for my twin daughters.

In no particular order:

Twin birthday card - http://stampedimpression.comThey, like my daughters, have a similar basic design! Main images from lower left to upper right, with a sentiment in the lower right. Both cards have flowers. But that’s where the similarities end.

The top card is full of glitter. This was achieved using the Silver Glimmer Paper for the 2-dimensional flowers and Rhinestone Basic Jewels in the flower centers. Set against the Night of Navy card stock card front, they really stand out!

The flowers were cropped by running the paper through the Big Shot using the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies. I love all the shapes in this set of dies, but I use these 2 flowers the most. Did you notice that there is an extra cut in each petal, so that the center part can stand up from the outer frame? This looks so amazing.

To soften the leaves and have them drop back into the background a little, I made them by running Vellum card stock through the Big Shot. Green leaves were just too bold for this card design, so I took some “poetic license”. You’re allowed to do that when designing cards!

The second card has much more stamping. All images are from the Garden in Bloom stamp set. I admit that I thought this set was a little juvenile when I first saw it. But I’ve grown to love the layering in the stamped images. It has definitely become my Go-To flower stamp set!

This card doesn’t have glitter, but it has shine. The circle matting and the bee are made from a Gold Foil Sheet. While all the circles are punched, I fussy cut the bee. If you follow me at all, you know that I rarely fussy cut at all.

By the way, the sentiment on both cards is from Party Pants. This stamp set was one of this year’s Sale-A-Bration stamp sets. So, it retired on March 31. However, you can still win this stamp set from me. Stay tuned for a contest announcement, coming later this week!

For me, every card presents a challenge. But my biggest challenge is designing cards for twins. What’s your biggest card design challenge

So, what do you think? Equal? Definitely not identical. Each girl loved her card, so I know I designed the best card for her. Ahhhh, twin birthdays. TWICE the fun and love!
