Top 3 Ways to Add Dimension to Your Scrapbook Page

I'm an old-fashioned scrapbooker. I like my pages FLAT. I don't like brads and other things that stick up, because I'm always afraid that they will poke dents into the photos on the facing pages.

But I don't like my pages to look flat. How do I manage that? Well, here are my top 3 tricks:

1. Use lots of layers of paper and card stock. It's especially effective if some of the colors contrast. Make sure that you mat your photos, with the colors running from light to dark, or dark to light. That also raises the photos in the reader's eye!

2. Use textures. You can achieve textures by dry embossing your card stock. The best way to do this is by using a Big Shot and one of the Textured Impressions Embossing Folders. You can also use ribbon. It makes good borders. Also, stamping a design all over your card stock, either in VersaMark or in ink that matches the card stock, adds texture to your page.

3. Use Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the photos or elements you want to "bring forward." These foam adhesive items do not make your page element very high. Definitely not high enough to dent your photos on the facing page!

Really, there are so many ways to add dimension to your scrapbook pages, but these are the ones I use most ofen on mine. However, there is one other really good trick…

Use My Digital Studio! You can easily add shadows to any element. Plus, you can add "ribbons" and "brads" and "buttons" – all without making your page lumpy, since this is a digital product! How cool is that?

And by the way, the same tricks can be used to add dimension to your hand stamped cards!

May is National Scrapbooking Month. Do you have any projects planned?

Until next time,
Happy Stamping!

  1. And when you’re ready for My Digital Studio, I’ll be there to help you get started!

But, remember, it’s more than digital scrapbooking. It’s a digital design tool. I’ve used it to design my cards. In fact, I may use it for my holidays cards at the end of this year, to create HYBRID cards. Doesn’t that sound cool?

Lots of great suggestions — for card-making as well as scrapbooking!! If I’m ever blessed with some grandbabies, you can bet I will be scrapbooking and My Digital Studio will be a great place to start!!
