Hand Stamped Tulips for Spring

Here’s something you may not know about me. Tulips are my favorite flower. And they’re “in season” for such a short time, that they are always special! Here’s a card design that highlights hand stamped tulips for spring!

Hand Stamped Tulips for Spring - http://stampedimpression.comI started with Love is Kindness from the Occasions catalog. Funny how I originally thought this stamp was boring!

This is one of my simpler designs. Here is how I made it.

The 4-1-1

  • Lots of card stock layers make sure that your eye is drawn to the main image. There are 3 layers under the stamped card stock that are glued to the card front. The black really draws your eye. The white layer provides even more emphasis!
  • I colored the flowers and greenery with Stampin’ Up! Blendabilities Markers. There is no shading. Lately, I’ve found that it’s even easier to color with my “Blendies” than with my regular Stampin’ Write Markers!
  • I repeated the watercoloring from Work of Art on the main stamped card stock, as well as on the card front. Repetition – if not over-done – provides a cohesive design.

There is also a surprise on this card. Take a closer look.

Epoxy Stamp colored with a Blendabilities marker - http://stampedimpression.comI colored one of the Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers with the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities Marker! (Hint: Color the stamp before you remove it from the backing. That way, you don’t get stray ink on your project!)

So, what do you think? If we all start stamping spring tulips, do you think the weather will warm up sooner? It’s worth a try!

    1. Ahhh, every woman should have a little mystery!

The first year I lived in the States, I planted 150 tulips in my front yard. The deer and rabbits ate all but 3 of them. I never planted them again. It’s probably why you never knew I love tulips.

I hope spring is coming soon. We have snow in the Midwest today – but nearly as much as during other snowfalls. It’s must be ending soon….

      1. Well there’s no mystery that tulips say “SPRING!!!” and so does this card! Plus another great use for that awesome Work of Art stamp set!! Now if we can just get rid of all this snow!

        1. I’m trying hard to be a glass-half-full person these days. So the upside of the cold weather is that I have more opportunity to make cards! I designed 9 new cards earlier this week, just because it was too cold to go out!
          =)
