We're a skating family. My daughters were on skates at age 3 and skated competitively since they were 9. My husband is an action photographer, taking pictures are figure skating and other sporting events. And I'm the skating volunteer … a skating mom and an accountant (i.e. the person who handles the computers and paperwork at U.S. Figure Skating competitions.
This year, one of my daughters is on a synchronized skating team. That's like synchronized swimming, but on the ice. And this weekend is her first competition. While I'm diligently working on my family Thanksgiving preparations, my mind keeps wandering to the competition. And so, I made this card.
I know, this doesn't resemble anything I'll see on the ice this weekend. But it's the only skating stamp I have.
I used the Winter Post and Serene Snowflakes stamp sets. (Okay, maybe I should have cut back on the number of snowflakes … it's only November!) I colored the skaters with Stampin' Write Markers, tore & sponged the edges, and mounted on double cardstock. The horizontal band is Night of Navy 5/8" satin ribbon on Silver Metallic cardstock. I also used 2 Regals Designer Buttons and the Northern Frost Decorative Strip with my Big Shot. Other colors are Very Vanilla, Night of Navy and Wild Wasabi.
It's a little busy, but I think that reflects my mood. How about you? Do you ever let your mood drive the style of your card? Let me know in a comment!
You’re very welcome!!
Ooo I like the card!! And thank you!! =]
The funny thing about the “anagram” is that it’s not one that came from texting and social networking. This was the way everyone wrote “Skate Great” back when the girls were little. It just naturally fits with how people communicate today.
Aw, this is so sweet! Very vintage. And a cute anagram (?) with the play on words and numbers. Love the punched snowflakes and the two buttons really tie in with the sweaters on the skaters! I know you’ll be enjoying the synchro competition! Go Team Phelan!
