Simple and Clean Masculine Card

I enjoy making all kinds of cards, but I really like a simple and clean masculine card. It can make a bold statement, just like my guy!

Simple and clean masculine cardThis brown-and-white design is interesting. First of all, it’s not just 2-tone. I used both Soft Suede and Early Espresso. I had considered using Very Vanilla instead of Whisper White, but I found it to be dull. Somehow, the Whisper White cardstock called out to me!

The leaves on the front were made using the Big Shot and the Secret Garden Framelits. Did you know that this is one of the retiring items that’s on sale for 25% off? (Regularly $24.95. Now only $18.71.)

  1. When a card is monochromatic, it’s important to add depth to the design. I accomplished this in a few ways. First, although you can’t see it all on the photo, I used the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the center square of Whisper White. (I’m really so glad that this embossing folder will still be available in the new catalog!)
  2. I stamped the Soft Suede rectangle with Woodgrain stamp in Early Espresso ink. This stamp is retired. In fact, it’s sold out! However, you can always substitute Truly Grateful, for a similar effect!
  3. I also attached the center rectangle to the card front using a couple of Stampin’ Dimensionals. I find it so hard to make a card without them!

Inside of Masculine CardI always like to stamp something on the inside of the card, as well as somewhere on the envelope. Here, I stamped the leafy branch from Secret Garden. However, between the time I made this card and when I wrote this blog post, the stamp set was sold out. Fortunately, you can cut out the leaves with the Framelits, as on the card front.

So, there are two important lessons here.:

#1 If you’re thinking about buying any of the products on the Retiring Lists, then please do not delay. These items are available only while supplies last. And they are running out of them. I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat it here. I don’t want you to be disappointed. Shop early.

#2 If you don’t own the exact products I use on my project, it’s easy to substitute others. It only takes a little imagination!

Follow this advice and you, too, can make a simple and clean masculine card for your guy!!
