I love to use the large flowers from the Mixed Bunch stamp set. While they all have the same shape, their designs are totally different. But I rarely use the centers of the flowers. Until today, that is.
Talk about stepping outside the box. This card is NOT vintage. It doesn't use the main flowers from Mixed Bunch. It uses Calypso Coral a sa featured color! (You see, every card does not need pure blue and the flowers do not need green leaves!) That is all so different for me.
My primary colors are Sahara Sand, Island Indigo, Calypso Coral and Pool Party. This is not a combination that I picked at random. It came about as I pulled colors together, and started swapping others in and out. (Do you remember the "smooshing" method of color selection that I described several months ago?) Anyway, at the end I was happy with the combination and its effect. What do you think?
I had wanted all the circles to fit on the card front, but that didn't work out. If I pushed them all a little to the left, then some were under the Calypso Coral Ruffled Ribbon. I just didn't like that, at all. So, at the end, I let the 3 circles hang off the card front and trimmed them off.
By the way, discovering the flower centers today was like finding a new stamp set on my shelf! Definitely fun!
The sentimet is from Day of Gratitude – why do I only think of that set in the fall? Some sponging and Stampin' Dimensionals, along with more stamped flower centers on the inside of the card, and I was done.
Now, the main qustion that I have for you is NOT when was the last time you stepped outside the box when designing cards. I'd like to know why no one ever pointed out that I frequently call this stamp set Mixed Bouquet? I have a Canadian accent and I'll call something a bouquet of flowers, before I call it a bunch of flowers. But today, please sample my Mixed Bunch!
Glad you like it. I had fun working on it!
For whatever reason I love this card. It’s different and the colors are great. Thx for sharing.
