One Product – Many Uses

I absolutely love to buy one product and find many uses for it!

One of the benefits of using Stampin’ Up! products is that they’re coordinated. One type of coordination is about color – each of the 4 main color collections include cardstock and ink in 10 core colors. Those colors are also used on the beautiful Designer Series Papers. Another type of coordination is about stamps and ways to easily cut them out. In this case, stamps have a coordinating punch or a set of dies.

Sometimes I let Stampin’ Up! direct me in choosing the products in my project. I’ll take the color combinations from a sheet of the Designer Series Paper. Or I’ll cut out a stamped image with the matching die or punch. It’s easy to follow this path.

But sometimes, I find a product that can be used in a completely different and unexpected way. It’s a bonus! Even makes me feel a little practical for making such a wise purchase!

That’s what happened with the Hello Ladybug bundle. It’s the Hello Ladybug stamp set and Ladybug Builder punch. Make sense, right? Here’s a snippet of a card I recently shared in my newsletter.Hello Ladybug bundle used on a card

But I made some other discoveries. You can do more with the punch!

Bumblebee

I’m not really a bee person, although I appreciate their role in the balance of nature. Anyway, if you want to have a cute little bee or 2 on your paper project, then just use the punch!

Hello Ladybug - turn your ladybug into a bumble bee!

Cut out 2 ladybugs, one in black and one in a shade of yellow. Of course I chose Bumblebee for that! Then cut the yellow body into strips. Keep track of their order. Remove half of the strips and lay them on the black body. Starting to look like a bumblebee, right? For the finishing touch, punch the wings from vellum. Perfect. A cute little bumblebee!

Okay, I can’t take credit for this discovery. I saw one of these bumblebees online.

Flower

I made this one up on my own. However, I’ll bet there are people who made the same discovery. Punch out wings and use them as flower petals.

Hello Ladybug bundle to make a flower!

All you need to do is punch out a bunch of ladybug wings. I think I punched 6 or 7 to make this flower. I glued up a small piece of scrap cardstock, then added the wings. I used additional adhesive when there wasn’t enough to hold the petals. I added a small circle on the top, to provide a finished look.

Of course, you can use several shades to make an interesting flower. You can use Stampin’ Blends to add shading.

On this flower, I left all the pairs of wings connected. But you can cut them apart for something more interesting.

Any other uses?
