I recently asked people to submit cards for me to feature on my blog. Well, most of you are just too shy! But, my friend, Kathryn, who is always there with a helping hand, passed along a few samples. Thanks, Kathryn!
The hardest part was picking which card to feature. Her work is all great. So, at the end, I decided to go with a fall theme … Is this the best?!?!
Kathryn used Naturals Ivory cardstock for the card base, giving it a kind of rustic feel. The Sanded background stamp on the center ivory square and the linen thread continue that feel. However, the best part of this card is the pumpkin, whose shapes are made entirely from punches. Look carefully at the orange part of the pumpkin. The cardstock was run through the Big Shot, using the Textured Impressions Square Lattice Embossing Folder, before punching the ovals – it took 3 to make the pumpkin. She also used a swirly punch and leaves (on which she used a spider web embossing folder) – they're not Stampin' Up! but they look really cute and they definitely suit the card!
The key thing about this card is the use of different textures to add depth and richness to the design. Of course, there are lots of layers – this always adds depth. And the whole card was obviously assembled very carefully – another characteristic of Kathryn's work. Always classic.
Thanks for sharing, Kathryn!
If you like this card, then please let me know. Then, think about submitting a sample of yours. You could be the next guest blogger.
Until next time,
Happy Stamping,
Sandi
I really like this one! Especially the background behind the pumpkin and the confetti paper. =]
