More Fall Leaves Rooted in Nature

Some years, I fall in love with stamped images of leaves. This is one of those years, as the variety of leaves offered in Stampin’ Up! stamps is more versatile than ever!

More Fall Leaves Rooted in Nature

It’s windy here in the Midwest. It seems like the falling leaves are swirling all the time! The piece of Garden Lane Designer Series Paper I used here makes me think of the swirling leaves. Does it have that effect on you?

The 4-1-1

  • Use white space to highlight the focal point – The beautiful embossed leaves are mounted on a white circle. It’s the only white space on the card. It serves to make the leaves stand out from the busy background.
  • You can use non-traditional colors – the main leaves are Pretty Peacock, Pear Pizzazz, and Cajun Craze. When was the last time you saw Pretty Peacock leaves? I would guess “Never”. This color works so well with Pear and Cajun, making them stand out. So, it works for a leaf! Who would have ever guessed that?
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals help create a focal point – It’s subtle, but the Stampin’ Dimensionals also help highlight the focal leaves, by raising them off the card front.

The other non-traditional color used on this card is the Pool Party banner under the matted leaves. I pulled the Pool Party from the Designer Series Paper. I stamped the leaves (from the Rooted in Nature stamp set) on it. This monochromatic piece stands out a little from the background of the paper’s pattern. Yet it continues the feeling of falling leaves. It’s a kind of transition from the background to the the highlighted leaves.

What do you think? Is it time to abandon my leaves on my card designs for snowflakes? Maybe not yet. But soon! 😉
