I don't know about you, but I make most of my cards for other women. As a result, I design few masculine cards. When I know a male with a birthday looming, I sometimes need to scramble to make a card. That's what happened last week. Here is what I came up with.
I have my go-to stamp sets, and Lovely as a Tree is one of them! I earned it for free years ago, by hosting a Stampin' Up! home party. (That's was before I became a demonstrator!) The sentiment is from On Your Birthday, which will go away on May 31.
The card base is Crumb Cake card stock, with Always Artichoke and Not Quite Navy mats. I stamped the background trees in the Crumb Cake. Then I stamped the main tree in Always Artichoke. After it dried well, I stamped it again with Versamark, and then used Clear Embossing Powder on it. (By the way, I used my trusty Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to position the VersaMark tree exactly over the green tree.) This technique really makes the tree stand out!
This card is very flat, so no extra postage is required. All in all, it's the perfect masculine birthday card!
How about you? Do you make a lot of masculine cards? Please a comment below and let us know!
I never thought about using Lovely as a Tree for Halloween. I’ll have to try that. Thanks for the tip!!
“Lovely as a Tree” is one of my most favorite sets! It works for so many occasions–masculine birthday, sympathy, holiday, even Halloween if you make it a little spooky. What more could you ask from one stamp set!!!
