Today we’re exploring how to make a card for fall. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? But, yet, sometimes these “simple” tasks are tough to start. Let’s work with this card design.
I love the detailed designs of the leaves in the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set. This is a new photopolymer set in the Holiday catalog. The patterns alone make the stamped images special!
On this card I used the Stained Glass technique – did you notice all the different colors that I have on my leaves? So cool. In fact, this is one of the techniques that I’ll share in my October Card Class.
So, back to the original question. How do you make a card for fall? I stamped a leaf. That’s pretty in-your-face, but it’s really not a requirement for a fall card. I find it’s the earth-tone colors that make a card fall-ish. I used green, but not a bright green. Crushed Curry is a perfect yellow for fall. And I used a little Cajun Craze.
Even my embellishment are earth-tone – the Candy Dots and the Gold button.
To subdue the colors even more, I used Vellum card stock. Placing it over the Always Artichoke lets a little green show through (more so in person than in this photo), but not the full richness. Rich colors say “Fall” to me, but softening them a little, does too.
