It’s a Birthday Celebration! No Fooling!

I know it’s April 1, but in our family today it’s a birthday celebration! No Fooling! Today is my twin daughters’ birthday! Here’s a fun celebration card.

It's a birthday celebrationToday, I started with the colors: Basic Gray and Pool Party, with just a little Tangerine Tango and Whisper White. Yes, Whisper White IS a color.

To be truthful, I didn’t start with the colors. I really started with the Washi Tape! The rest just fell into place!

This card uses so many of the cool new products from the Occasions catalog. Don’t you love the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder? The fact that it’s not absolutely-perfectly-symmetrical makes it so much fun to use and it adds so much interest to the card design!

Of course, the stamped sentiment is essential to this card. It’s from Starburst Sayings. This is my favorite stamp in the set. It’s a great expression and isn’t limited to only one occasion. Bonus!! I layered different shaped punches: 1″ Circle Punch, 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch, and Label Bracket Punch. Much more interesting than the nested circles I would usually do!

The 411…

  • To keep the different designs easy on the eye, be sure to leave a gap between the two strips of Washi Tape. Otherwise, everything, including the background and the layers under the sentiment, seem to run together.
  • Your eye always needs a place to rest. that’s why I left a large “blank” space at the top right of the card.
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals are a easy, effective way to glue card stock on a dry embossed area. That’s why I used them under the layers sentiment.

Finally, I just added a Candy Dot. That’s all it needs for a birthday celebration. No Fooling!
