How do you get a clean large Paper Doily using the Large Sizzlits Die and a Big Shot? It's not very difficult, but I hear this question all the time. Let's look at a large paper doily that wasn't die cut well.
Here is a different view of the same large paper doily.
Remember, you can always click on a photo to see it enlarged.
What I'm trying to show in the photos, is that the doily is still attached on one side. The only way I could remove it from the rest of the card stock was to cut it with scissors, or tear it with my fingers. Neither was an acceptable option to me.
To use a Large Sizzlits Die, you need to begin with the correct sandwich. This is described on page 6 of the Occasions Mini. Build the sandwich in this order (from top to bottom):
- Standard Cutting Pad
- Material to be cut (card stock or paper)
- Large Sizzlits Die
- Standard Cutting Pad
- Multipurpose Platform on Tab 1
That's it.
Or, at least, it should be it. That's exactly what I did when I die cut the doily above.
If the die cutting doesn't go through all the way, then place a shim under the die. Start with a piece of Whisper White or Very Vanilla card stock. If that's not enough, try a piece of colored card stock. Then try cardboard. Combinations of these items may be best.
Every Big Shot is a little different. And they can change how they work over time. So, you need to experiment with the unit that you have.
I only needed to add a single layer of Whisper White card stock.
Anyway, now my large Paper Doilies are great! So, give it a try. And, if you still have problems, please feel free to contact me!
I hope that you found this tip useful.
Until next time,
Sandi
