Handmade 3D Birthday Card

While a birthday is always pleasing to look at, a handmade 3D birthday card is even prettier. Especially this one!

I’m not one for over-the-top card designs. I really like each element to claim its space. Multiple patterns on a card can fight with each other for your eye’s attention. It’s not my favorite type of design.

The 4-1-1

  • The cake, decorated with flowers, was stamped twice – I die-cut the entire cake once. Then I die-cut only the flowers. That allowed me to attach each to the layer below with Stampin’ Dimensionals. This clearly makes each layer stand out!
  • The images were with stamped using Memento Ink and colored using Stampin’ Blends – You should always use Memento ink with Stamping’ Blends to prevent the 2 types of ink from bleeding.
  • Color Combination – I used Petal Pink, Night of Navy and Mint Macaron on this card. Easy on the eyes, don’t you think? It’s a little feminine. But you can hardly give a cake covered in flowers to a man LOL!
  • Multiple Layers of Stampin’ Dimensionals – I used Stampin’ Dimensionals under the cake. Then I attached the flowers to the cake, using more Stampin’ Dimensionals. One layer just wasn’t enough!

A Little Bling

I love bling on a card. But I also use it minimally.

On this card, I added 3 Rihinestone Basic Jewels in the upper left and lower right corner of the card front.

I also painted the flowers with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. It’s a subtle bling, but bling nonetheless!
