Today’s card feature Flowers to WOW You! What do I mean by that? Check out this card design, created especially for National Aviation Day!
This card design makes good use of a few of my favorite card making tools.
I began with Designer Series Paper. Okay, maybe this isn’t a tool. But I love DSP. It makes many of my cards quicker to finish. Without it, either I’d need to stamp background designs on my cards, OR I’d have to add texture to the card backgrounds. While these are two techniques I do often (and I definitely enjoy doing them), sometimes it’s nice to have a short cut!
The paper I used today is a Melon Mambo sheet from the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack. How fun!
I also used punches, another great time saver! I punched a Pansy near the top of my top cardstock layer, letting the Designer Series Paper show through. Then I added a 7/8″Scallop Circle punched layer in the center, with a 1/2″ Circle punched layer in the center of that.
Below this flower, I added a wavy line of small flowers punched from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.
Stamp set is the Bravo Photopolymer stamp set. Wow!
Of course I added a Rhinestone Basic Jewel in the center of each flower for that needed b-l-i-n-g!
So, what does this have to do with National Aviation Day? Not very much. But the wavy lines of flowers makes me think of the vapor trail from the back of an airplane. And it’s Orville Wright’s birthday today. He was born on August 19, 1871.
So, sometime soon, why don’t you try this design technique and use some flowers for that WOW factor! Send me a photo or leave a comment below, to let me know how you made out with it.
Until then, Happy National Aviation Day!
