What makes this project the Best Day Ever Card to Make? It’s a card designed with a FREE stamp set PLUS it’s so easy to do! Have a look at this fun card. (Remember that you can click on the photo to see a larger image.)
How fun is this? Makes me think of ice cream in the summer!
First of all, look at the colors: Pink Pirouette and Bermuda Bay. Not prissy at all. The Bermuda Bay does that.
Aside: For people who ask about how I choose my colors… today I actually started with Bermuda Bay. It’s because that’s the ribbon I have on hand!
The stamp set is Best Day Ever from Sale-A-Bration. Yes, you can earn it for free by spending $50 (before shipping and tax) at my online store. Worth a trip!
I also used One Tag Fits All for the smaller white tag under the sentiment. Do you see it?
The 4-1-1
- Colors: Contrast & Number – When a card is busy, it’s best to limit the number of colors that you use. I used only 2. (White isn’t really a color, is it?) Also, Pink Pirouette is very pale, while the Bermuda Bay is very rich. This combination makes it super easy to read the sentiment.
- Tags for a sentiment that is too long – Usually, I stamp first, then punch. But the text wouldn’t fit on the Note Tag Punch. Solution: Cut a strip of white card stock to fit the width of the punch. I stamped the sentiment right at the bottom of this card stock. Then I inserted in in the punch, with the text outside and above the punch area. I was able to punch the fabulous tag top, fitting it to the stamped image.
- Repeat shapes – I can’t say it often enough. Repeat shapes. 😉 I punched some circles and attached to the card front. While the stamped circles are not perfectly shaped like the punched ones, they absolutely work well together!
I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the tags to the card front.
This photo (to the left) helps you see the layers a bit better.
I was going to send this to a friend who had some good news. But the card makes me think of ice cream, which makes me think of birthday cake. Now, I’m thinking I should give this to a friend for her birthday. So many decisions…
Wait! I can make two and send it to each of them! Another reason this is the Best Day Ever card to make!
