Designer Series Paper makes my card and scrapbook projects so easy! Here is an example of a card.
This card features the bird from Betsy's Blossoms, one of the new stamp sets in the Annual Catalog, and Petite Pairs. Who would have expected to mix such a bold design with small delicate text?
The Designer Series Paper is Floral District. I love using this paper. Here are the top 3 reasons:
- It adds a pattern more quickly than stamping.
- It adds depth and interest to the design, with less weight than standard card stock.
- It provides big, bold images on one side, with small (and often monochromatic) images on the other side, giving you 12 choices per pack!
I admit that I wasn't always a fan of Designer Series Paper. I still gravitate to the monochromatic Color Collection Paper Stacks. But the patterned paper has really provided a boost to my card designs!
In the early days, when the patterned paper retired, I was left with packages that were barely touched. Now, I'm left with only small scraps. The difference is NOT that I'm buying less. In fact I buy much more paper than before. The difference is that I'm using it more.
So how do I pick the paper I buy? Well, first I look at the colors. I try to work at all places on the color wheel. But I prefer the traditionally cool colors. Then I look at colors that are different than what is already on my shelves.
If you're not sure where to start, begin with a Product Suite that you like. Stampin' Up! creates combinations of stamp sets, paper and embellishments that work especially well together. It makes designing really easy!
