Today I’m sharing a card designed for the Inner Child in You. I tend to design most of my cards for women. However, now and then it’s fun to do something a little different. Take a look.
This card was made primarily with punches! That may not seem significant to you, but it’s an example of stepping outside my comfort zone =)
Can you tell it’s Minnie Mouse? I sure hope so! Here are some tips for making this card:
The 4-1-1
- Repeat shapes for a cohesive design. Can you count the circles?! Minnie’s head is made from 3 punched circles. The design has randomly punched white circles. Only her bow and the sentiment are from different shapes.
- Use color to bridge a design gap. In this case, I used large white polka dots on a red background to reenforce the Minnie Mouse image. Her dress was patterned that way. So, even if you’re not quite sure about the Minnie Mouse head, the dress gives you a clearer picture!
- Use a somewhat different shape to make something stand out. With all the red-and-white, as well as the large Minnie Mouse head, I needed a way to make the sentiment stand out. I stamped it on a Modern Label Punch shape. While this obviously differs from all the circles, its rounded ends allow it to fit in with the rest of the design. Cohesion, yet significance.
So there you have it. A card designed for the Inner Child in You. Enjoy!!
Awwww, so cute! I have a friend (actually Ben’s friend) who is NUTS for Disney. This could be Liz’s Bday card next year!
Thanks! All you need are some punches and you’re ready to go!
