Delicate Doilies and Rounded Shapes

When I design a card, I often use similar lines or shapes on the different elements. It adds cohesion to the design. Today’s card follows that concept. It’s made with Delicate Doilies and Rounded Shapes.

I started with the Delicate Doilies stamp set. This set is so versatile – I’ve never used it for doilies at all! I picked three of the doily images, randomly stamping them all over the card base and the center panel. Each shape was stamped in one ink color: River Rock (which retires on June 3), Always Artichoke and Night of Navy. The same colors were repeated in the card stock and the ribbon.

Each stamped image is round. The sentiment, from A Fitting Occasion, is round. It’s mounted on a scallop circle, which, in turn, is mounted on a large oval. I find that the repetition of shapes is almost comforting!

So, the next time you’re stuck with a card design that just doesn’t feel right, think about repeating shapes. It really helps. Think about my Delicate Doilies and Rounded Shapes!
