Another Example of Inspiration from My Own Card Designs

Last week I showed how I used one of my previous card designs to inspire a new one. Today, I take that  process one more step forward by showing another example of finding inspiration from my own card designs!

Start with the general design layout, then swap out images and colors for a new card design!. I started with the masculine birthday card from last Tuesday. I swapped out the stamp sets for Flower Shop, one of the new stamp sets in the 2013-2014 annual catalog. (Believe me, it’s just as easy to go from a masculine card to a feminine one, as in the other direction!) Of course I softened the look with lots of Pink Pirouette. But then I added some Raspberry Ripple and Wild Wasabi, so that the appropriate elements stand out.

One of the things that I love about the Flower Shop stamp set is that it has a coordinating Pansy Punch. This is such a great tool for adding dimension to a card.

I used other easy “tricks” to add dimension. Take a closer look here. Can you spot all the things I did?

Stampin' Dimensionals, Ribbon and a Pearl all give this card added dimension.I mounted one of the punched flowers and the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Wild Wasabi 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon adds both texture and dimension. Finally, I inserted a Pearl Basic Jewel in the center of the main flower.

Getting back to the original topic of this blog post … The general layout is the same as the masculine birthday card. First, I picked a different color combination and I changed the images. Once I did that, I needed to move the elements around a little, just to keep balance in the design. However, the big job was done before. This was a quick card for me to design and make. Try it. I’m sure that you can find inspiration in your own card designs, too, just like I did!

    1. Thanks! I always like having a punch match a stamped image. But the Flower Shop really outdoes itself by having one punch match 6 different images.
