An Honest Review of Photopolymer Stamps

The other day I received my new Designer Type Photopolymer Stamp Set. I've worked with them only a little. Here is my honest review.

My first project so that I could write an honest review about photopolymer stamps.

This stamp set includes the 26 letters of the alphabet, plus the 10 digits and some simple shapes. It was difficult to design a really "artistic" card, but I tried – lol. This card is definitely designed with my husband in mind!

Here is what I discovered about using photopolymer stamps:

  1. They stick very well – even better than our clear mount rubber stamps – to the clear acrylic blocks. That makes them easier to use. If you're stamping multiple times, the stamp will not detach from the block.
  2. Because they are transparent, you can place them perfectly. That is partially true. Because they are truly transparent, you can place them more easily. However, these stamps are so tiny, that it was tricky getting them arranged exactly where I wanted them. The five letters are not in a perfect line.
  3. They are inexpensive. The new Designer Type Photopolymer Stamp Set costs only $13.95 for 57 pieces! That is well below the cost of our other stamps.

As for their durability, I couldn't judge that yet. I've only owned these stamps for a few days. They are not supposed to discolor with age, as some other companies' photopolymer stamps do.

The main thing I learned is that there is a learning curve to using these stamps. The stamps in this particular set are very tiny, making them a little tricky to handle. I found that they didn't take on the ink as well as the rubber stamps, but I'm kind of a rubber snob. I love my rubber stamps!

However, they are worth the time spent practicing on them. I'm confident that I'll soon become a photopolymer expert.
