All the Rage, According to CHA

At the recent Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) show, they was said that the 2 biggest trends in paper crafting are the accordion-folded flower and Bling! Aren't we lucky that we have lots of access to both of those trends?

I described how to make accordion folded flowers in the December 2010 issue of my newsletter? If you're not on the mailing list, you missed it. So, please sign up today and don't miss another issue. The newsletter is sent out monthly. (And if you sign up this week, I'll send you a copy of the December issue, just so you can learn how to make the flowers!)

Now the Bling! I don't dress, decorate, or scrapbook with it, but I love Bling on my cards. Here is just an example.

SAB3
Colors on this card are primarily Pacific Point, Baja Breeze and Whisper White. I drew the flower stems free-hand (!) with just a Stampin' Write marker! The leaves and the little round flowers are from the Build A Blossom stamp set (#121923 or #121994), while the sentiment is from Perfect Punches (#117022 or #120516).

I added a clear Bitty Button (#1187614) to each stamped flower and a colored button from the Ribbon & Button Pack (#123529) to the other two. (The colored buttons are part of what I earned for free from the Sale-A-Bration promotion!) A little Baja Breeze 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon (#122331) from the Occasions mini catalog – notice that I tied two strands in the middle. For Bling I attached a Basic Rhinestone Jewel (#119246) to the center of each button. I also added Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the stamped leaves – yes, I know, you can't see it in the photo. But, trust me, it's really cute. Glitter isn't just for the flowers any more!

One of the other interesting things about this card is that I used bits and pieces from everywhere. My suplies can be found in all 3 current catqalogs. My stamped images are defginitely a mix-and-match group today.

But the main point of today's post is to show you how easy it is to add Bling to your cards. Let me know – are you a fan of Bling, or do you prefer a more conservative look? Leave me a comment below.

Until next time,
Happy stamping!
Sandi

Just a little big of bling here and there can make all the difference in the world!! Too much winds up looking like…well, too much!! What’s that old adage about accessorizing? When you’ve finished getting dressed and have put on all your earrings and bracelets and necklaces and scarves and whatnot – look in the mirror and remove two pieces. Less is more. (How many other cliques can I use here???)
