Updated Card Design with Lovely as a Tree

I’ve said this before – it’s great to purchase new stamp sets and accessories. However, we also need to use the products we already own. Today, I’m using one of the first sets I ever bought. I’m just using it on an updated card design. Take a look.

An updated card design with a stamp set I already own.I bought the Lovely as a Tree stamp set before I became a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. The variety of images and sizes really appealed to me. Nine years later (!) I still love this set. However, I use it differently than when I first started out.

[I just thought of something. Nine years of stamping with one stamp set. Sounds like a worthy investment. Don’t you agree?!)

I stamped one of the tress from Lovely as a Tree in the upper right corner. I added some light squares by stamping with my clear blocks! (Don’t you just love it when a product can be used in more than one way?) I added a few leaves in the lower corners. Tearing the edges of the top layer and winding some Linen Thread around it were just the added touches I wanted.

The sentiment is from Simply Sketched, a new hostess set. (You can purchase it either when you host a party or make a purchase for $150.)

Card stock colors are Crumb Cake and Always Artichoke. I used the same colors of ink, plus Chocolate Chip. I stamped the tree on the inside, as well.

By the way, do you think the top torn layer adds some dimension? Here’s a tip for you: Instead of applying my adhesive close to the edge of the card stock, i applied it about 3/4″ further in. The edges of the card stock are not held down so tightly. I wouldn’t use this technique on an invitation that will be handled a lot, but it’s perfect for a greeting card.

As I said in my opening … I’m showing an updated card design with a stamp set I already own. Try it and let me know how you do!

    1. You’re welcome! It’s always a stretch taking a stamp I’ve owned for a long time – even one as beautiful as Lovely as a Tree – and finding a new way to use it. And it ALWAYS feels so good when I do it!
