How to make cascading images with your stamps
Today’s card has cascading squares, each with a stamped leaf on it. I’ve made this kind of design element often. Today I’ll explain how I do it.
The Cascaded Images
I start by choosing the images. On this card, each image is a different leaf. (By the way, all of them are from Rooted in Nature.) You can also use one image in all three, or one image in two and a second in the third.
I stamped each image on a small piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Then I cut a 1-inch square around each. Note that the images extend over the edge of the cardstock. I feel that looks nicer than fitting completely inside. Also, each image is at a slightly different angle inside the square. That’s most important. That’s why I bolded that text 🙂
Finally, I matted each image. The middle leaf has its matted “reversed” from the top and bottom leaves.
Putting It All Together
The “top” background cardstock layer has randomly stamped images of the tree trunk. I wound some Mossy Meadow linen thread around the cardstock, to give a vertical line to the design. It helps move your eyes in the desired direction.
Finally, I added the matted images. They cascade down the card front, at different angles. Each is attached with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
And that’s how you do it.
By the way, the colors I used today are Crushed Curry, Terracotta Tile, and Mossy Meadow. Kind of a fall combination, but somehow, that was the set that appealed to me!
