My Favorite New Stamp Set • Stamped Impression

I usually have several “favorite” Stampin’ Up! stamp sets. But right now, one set is clearly in the lead… My favorite stamp set Wishing You Well.

The images in this set are gorgeous – partly because of the overall design. But most of all, these stamps are DistINKtive designs. This patent pending technology allows the rubber stamp to take on different amounts of ink at different points. The end result is a 3-dimensional image on your card. That’s just another way to create interest in your design. Fabulous!

Best Tip to Stamp with DistINKtive Stamps

I’ve used these stamps before, but something about this set caused me to have an Ah-Hah moment.

You need to apply enough ink so that you get complete coverage of the rubber. However, you don’t want too much ink on the stamp or you’ll lose the 3-D effect. How do you control that?

First of all, you need to “play”. Much depends on how well inked your stamp pad is.

If your stamp pad is not too inky, then a gentle tap-tap on the ink pad is probably enough. Do not do the rub-rub-rub-tap-tap of the Olden Days. That will take on too much ink.

However, I keep my ink pads pretty inky. (I guess it’s because i rubber stamp so much.) Even the gentlest tap-tap often takes on too much ink. In that case, I apply ink to the stamp with a brayer! It works perfectly every time! Genius!
