Some days, I start working in my craft room, with a definite plan in mind. But then sometimes, no matter how clear that plan is in my head, the final outcome is totally different. Today was one of those days. I realized that Valentine's Day is tomorrow, and I still don't have a card for my DH (Dear Husband). So, off I went to design the best valentine ever. Here is what I ended up making.
When I was working on invitations last week, I spent a lot of time making 3-D flowers. I used a variety of punches and Big Shot dies. I guess I still had 3-D flowers on the brain. This flower has 5 separate layers. Starting with the largest, I used:
- Fun Flowers Bigz L Die and the Big Shot,
- Blossom Punch from the Occasions Mini,
- Blossom Builders Designer Printed Kit from the Occasions Mini,
- Rich Razzleberry 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon,
- 3/4" Circle Punch.
The biggest flower was die cut twice. I cut the petals apart and added them, one by one, to the back of the Rich Razzleberry card stock layer. I also sponged the edges a bit, so that they would stand out against the card base.
The ribbon layer was made by looping 3 strands and taping them to the back of the Pear Pizzazz center circle. The yellow flower is patterned. The Clear Rhinestone Brad ensures that these layers remain in place. Here is a closer, but fuzzier, look. Remember, you can click on my photos to see them enlarged.
I'm not toally satisfied with the leaf placement. But since I really need a Valentine's Day card, I have to stop working on it.
By the way, I'm so glad I finally opened my package of Blossom Builders – it contains double-sided, printed, textured die-cut flowers plus plus 60 pink flat-backed rhinestones! They are so much fun. You really need to try them!
Well, time to think about my Valentine's Day Card again.
Thanks! It was SO MUCH fun to make!
i love that flower!!!
