Sometimes, we believe we need every item in the catalog. But that’s simply not true. (Although, I admit that I want every item in the catalog – LOL.) Today, I’m showing a card where I use only 1 Stampin’ Classic Ink Pad to give the impression of 3 different colors. Imagine that!
As I’ve done so often since the start of the Annual Catalog, I started with the Work of Art stamp set.
I took the stamp that looks the long brush stroke and inked it very well – by tapping 3 times on the Old Olive Stampin’ Classic Ink Pad.
I stamped it 3 times on the card stock, without re-inking it. See how each stripe is lighter than the one above it?
Then I added flowers punched with the Petite Petals Punch. Three of them, each in a different shade of Green: Always Artichoke, Old Olive, and Pear Pizzazz.
A little Candy Dot in the center of each flower, and I was pretty much done.
Okay, here’s a little secret. I didn’t stamp it exactly as I described. The problem, you see, is that once you stamp partially off the card stock, there’s a line in the ink of the next stamped image. So here is what I really did:
- Ink the rubber and stamp the top image.
- Ink the rubber, stamp off once on scrap paper, and stamp the middle image.
- Ink the rubber, stamp off twice on scrap paper, and stamp the bottom image.
Clever, don’t you think? It’s easy to use Only 1 Ink Pad to Make 3 Colors… when you know how!
“Work of Art” is just so user-friendly, isn’t it?? Brings out the “artist” in all of us!
It really does. I believe that’s why I like it so much. Really makes me FEEL creative!
And all it takes is a little quiet time with the stamps!
Sandi – I love this card and the Work of Art stamp set!!
Thank you! The Work of Art stamp set is a really interesting one. I didn’t want it, at first. I thought it would be too difficult to use and would require too much in-born creativity. Thankfully, I was wrong on both counts. It is so much fun. The abstract shapes allow me the freedom to stamp, without stress, never worrying about precise placement etc. It’s the best investment I made from the new catalog!
