Counting Down the Days Left in the Catalog

It really is a countdown this year. Since retiring products are available only while supplies last, I’m watching the lists so closely. One of my very favorite sets is retiring: Clockworks.

Counting Down the Days Left in the CatalogThis stamp set is so much fun to use. I admit that I used it most often for masculine cards. But I’ve also used it in “feminine” colors for women!

This card makes good use of many retiring products.

Here are the instructions to make it:

  1. Card base is Smokey Slate (5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″), Midnight Muse (3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″, Smokey Slate (3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″), and Whisper White (3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″). (You can substitute Night of Navy for the Midnight Muse, which retires.)
  2. Randomly stamped the grid images in Smokey Slate on the white cardstock, above where you plan to add the ribbon. Also stamp a few grid images below where the ribbon would go. “Stamp off” first on some scrap paper, so that the ink is lighter.
  3. Stamp the watch on the gird. Don’t worry that the center is covered – we’ll fix that later. Then randomly stamp gears on either side of the watch.
  4. Take 6″ strand of Midnight Muse 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon and tie a knot just a little right of the center. then secure the ribbon on the back of the cardstock.
  5. Attach the white cardstock on the slate cardstock, then on the midnight cardstock, and then finally on the slate card base.
  6. Stamp the clock face in Midnight Muse, punch out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, then ink the edges on the ink pad. Stamp the clock hands on the face. Attach the circle to the clock face with a Stampin’ Dimensional..
  7. Stamp the sentiment on a white scrap. Punch out with the Curly Label Punch. Stamp a little and sponge the edges. Attach to Midnight Muse cardstock punched out with the Decorative Label Punch. Attach to the card front  with a couple of Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  8. Stamp some grid images and gears on the inside and you’re done!

The 4-1-1

  • The Clockworks stamp set is retiring and presently out of stock. However, if you still want it, pick up a copy of the digital download. Not only will you have all the images, but you’ll never have any smudging!
  • The amount of sponging and stamping you do on the piece with the sentiment, depends on the size of the font. The idea is to leave the font noticeable, but not bare.
  • The random stamping takes away all need for stress. There is no single correct way to stamp these images. It’s my favorite stamping technique!!

I’m going to miss Clockworks. What stamp set will you miss? Leave a comment and let us know.
