As promised last week, here is what I created last week… the special birthday card for my special sister!
Color combination is Pool Party, Marina Mist and Cherry Cobbler. I’m just loving this combination!
If you’re wondering how I came up with it, I did it by “smooshing“. I keep a set of sample card stock. Each card is 3″ x 3”. When I’m looking for the perfect combo, I take the cards and drop them on my work table. I smoosh them around and then start picking up groups of colors. Some are removed, others are added. I continue until I find something that I never tried before! Read about it here!
Works every time!
Back to the card. I used two of my favorite flower sets: Flower Shop and Betsy’s Blossoms. They make me feel happy, just by looking at them. I feel even happier when I work with them! Here’s how I made the card, in just 5 easy steps:
- Cut the card base (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″) and add a layer of Marina Mist (4″ x 5-1/4″ on top. Set aside.
- Randomly stamp the large flower (Betsy’s Blossoms) in Pool Party on Pool Party card stock (3-5/8″ x 4-7/8″). Attach to card base.
- Cut cherry Cobbler banner using the Big Shot and the Framelits Banner Dies. Then run through the Big Shot again with the Square lattice Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Attach to card base.
- Stamp one flower is Marina Mist ink and two in Pool Party ink on Pool Party card stock, from Flower Shop stamp set. (While you’re at it, stamp some flowers on the inside of the card!) Punch out with the Pansy Punch. Also punch out a couple of Marina Mist pansies. Attach to the card. Use a Stampin’ Dimensional under the stamped flowers. Add Candy Dots to their centers.
- Stamp the sentiment from Countless Sayings 2 in Cherry Cobbler. This is a photopolymer stamp and so easy to use!
Sign it and mail it! You’re done!
Truly, a very special birthday card for my very special sister! Happy Birthday, Sis. I hope you had a great weekend!
