Still feeling happy today, as you can see in my Birthday Spiral Spins card!
The design of the stamps in Spiral Spins is just so happy. Even when I feel like I’m dragging, these designs put a big smile on my face!
The sentiment is from Bring on the Cake, a familiar, but favorite stamp set!
To keep the happy mood, (but not overly crazy) the colors I chose are Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo. Okay, I admit, I started with only colors from the Brights Collection. But it was just too bright for me, so I needed to tone it down a bit.
While the design itself if full of fun, I decided to add Brights Candy Dots to the center of many of the spirals. Take a closer look.
Here are my Top Tips for today’s card design:
- Repeat shapes for a cohesive design. There are lots of lots of circles on this card: the spirals, the Candy Dots, and even the Small Scallop Stampin’ Trimmer Rotary Blade!
- Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to make the sentiment stand out.
- When choosing strong colors, like on this card, keep the maximum at 3. Otherwise, it’s just a jumble of color. This design allows your eye to move across the card front and come to rest at several points. So, while it’s bright, it’s not wild.
