How to Make a Doily with Sparkle!

Today is the first day of the New Weekly Deals. One of the best dies is part of it – the Paper Doily Sizzlits L die. So cute. In today’s project I show how to make a doily with sparkle!

The paper doily is a main feature on this card designCard base is Basic Gray, with a layer of Whisper White and a layer of Strawberry Slush on top. I randomly stamped Delicate Doilies all over the pink layer.

I ran Whisper White card stock through the Big Shot with the Paper Doily Sizzlits L die. I carefully glued it to the card base with my 2-Way Glue.

The sentiment is from Sweet Essentials. I just love the clear font of this set! I punched some circular shapes and attached them at the end. This grouping of deep color draws your eye to the sentiment!

What about the sparkle? Take a closer look at the next photo.

Rhinestones and Stampin' glitter add the sparkle! There are 2 Rhinestone Basic Jewels – one is in the center of the doily and the other is in the center of the piece by the sentiment. Then a bunch of Dazzling diamonds Stampin’ Glitter adds the finishing touch.

While many would expect a doily die to be old-fashioned and dull, this card shows that it can be something quite different!

Here are my Top 3 Tips for making this card:

  1. Add a small circle of Basic Gray behind the center of the doily. I makes stand out.
  2. To keep your work area clean, go all gluing on a Silicone Craft Sheet. The adhesive won’t stick to it, so it can’t find its way to your project, where it’s not wanted!
  3. Add the glitter to your card after it’s completely assembled. Otherwise, it gets in the way of the adhesive and your pieces will not stick together.

So, take advantage of the New Weekly Deals. Make a Doily with Sparkle, too!

  1. Love this color combo- seem to be in love with strawberry slush these days! Maybe because I am SO tired of a gray winter! Loving this one- as always!

    1. Funny thing about the Strawberry Slush…. I really didn’t like it much when it was first introduced. But lately, I’m loving it and I feel it works so well with other colors. I guess we’re already for some springtime weather! LOL
