Have Some Spooky Halloween Fun

It’s the middle of October. Time to give some thought on how to have some spooky Halloween fun! This card design should help with the festivities!

Spooky Halloween Fun - http://stamdpedimpression.comWhen I began my creative journey for this card, it was a one-layer simple design. It’s still very simple, but I added a few layers: of card stock, ink and twine!

First the card stock. The card base is Thick Whisper White Card Stock. It has layers of Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant and Whisper White on it. (I love the combination of Old Olive and Elegant Eggplant. Don’t you??)

To stamp the card front, I stamped an uneven row of pumpkins along the bottom. The stamps are part of Spooky Halloween Fun! So that the repetition of pumpkins isn’t so obvious, I added happy faces to only some of the pumpkins, and not always the same shapes.

Next I stamped the moon in Crushed Curry. It seemed a little empty to me, so I added some sponging.

Sponging seemed like a good idea, so I continued to sponge. I used Soft Suede along the bottom and Smoky Slate along the top. Then I stamped the witch. She’s my favorite image in the Spooky Halloween Fun stamp set!

Then I realized I made a tiny boo-boo. The pumpkins were too high and just seemed to be floating in mid-air. I could have started the layer over, but I had already invested a lot of work on it. So that wasn’t an option. Then it hit me. To “ground” the pumpkins, I needed to add something below them. So, I attached 3 strands of Elegant Eggplant Solid Baker’s Twine. It added the perfect fix!

The sentiment was stamped in Elegant Eggplant. I cut out the oval and the mat using the Big Shot and the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies. They were attached to the card front with a couple of Stampin’ Dimensionals.

If you were counting layers of this card in the old-fashioned way, it would have eight layers! Awesome. And perfect if you want to have some some Halloween fun!
