How to Make an Awesomely Artistic Wedding Card

It’s Wedding Season in the Phelan household. I’d give each bride and groom the same card, but my daughters don’t want to do that. So, I’m happy to make different cards, as long  as I can show them here. 🙂 Here’s one. I call it an Awesomely Artistic wedding card.

An Awesomely Artistic Card - http://www.stampedimpression.com The color combination is one of my favorites: Pear Pizzazz, Lost Lagoon and Whisper White. I think you can use these colors any time of year and for almost any occasion. Okay, they would be odd for Christmas or Mardi Gras. But they’d work for almost any occasion!

I really like to stamp my envelopes to match my card, but I make too many cards for that. It would really increase my storage needs to keep stamped envelopes in my stash! But, this card is going right out the door, so I though I’d stamp an envelope too. What do you think? An Awesomely Artistic Card - http://www.stampedimpression.com

Oops. Did you catch it? The photo above shows some retired ribbon. Oh-oh. =)

This is one of those card designs where I combined stamps from two different sets. The flowers are from Awesomely Artistic, one of the new sets in the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog. The words are stamped with For the New Two, introduced last spring. Until now, these were sets that I never mixed with others. It’s time to let loose!

The best thing about both of these sets is that each contains so much variety. There are several images, different fonts. I love having choices!

The top layer is Vellum Card Stock. This card stock always makes a card seem more elegant. Since a wedding is a very special occasion, I figured that this card deserves a layer of Vellum! But there are some special things you need to remember when you use Vellum card stock.

The 4-1-1

  • Vellum softens the look of anything under it – I stamped the flowers on the white card stock so that they wouldn’t over-power the card.
  • Classic Stampin’ Ink dries slowly on Vellum – Be sure to give it lots and lots and LOTS of time to dry. When I made this card, I stamped the sentiment on the Vellum card stock, then left it for an hour. It probably didn’t need that long, but I didn’t want to take a chance. I already smudged an earlier version!
  • Adhesive shows through Vellum card stock , so you need to be sneaky when you apply it – On this card I applied a little SNAIL Adhesive between the Whisper White and Vellum layers. After I attached the 2 little hearts on the Vellum, I attached a Mini Glue Dot on the Vellum behind them. So, my Vellum is held in place and no one sees any adhesive. Cool!

The Vellum Card Stock definitely adds a special touch to this card, but other items add to its awesome-ness. I used Pear Pizzazz 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon on the front. I love this ribbon because it’s so pliable. It always lies just where I want it. I also stamped some of the flowers from Awesomely Artistic on the inside. The card design just came together perfectly!

The other interesting thing about the stamp sets I chose is that Awesomely Artistic appears on my list of Faves that I sent out with the annual catalog. For the New Two is the first set I purchased from the last Occasions catalog, when it was introduced. By the way, did you get your copy of the catalog yet? Let me know if you’d like a copy!

So, this card is ready to be presented to the lucky Bride & Groom. It’s definitely suitable for such a special occasion – an Awesomely Artistic wedding card!

    1. Thank you. I can’t make enough cards in blue-and-green. One of my favorites. Has been for a long time!

  1. So pretty! I’ve been in a blue and green phase myself lately and this card is encouraging me to stay with that color combo! Love the foliage stamp in the corners and VELLUM! So classy and timeless!

    1. Thanks. In fact, I’ve been asked to make another identical one for the next wedding. I think blue-and-green has become a timeless combination!
